Emissions history plus enhanced reporting capabilities

BigMile is launching a completely new version of the BigMile Carbon Analytics application. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, version 3.0 includes enhanced reporting capabilities that support rapid analysis. “Users will now have even faster insights into their transportation-related carbon footprint and can build up a database of their emissions history to monitor whether they are meeting their reduction targets,” says BigMile’s Bas Wolff.

The previous version of BigMile Carbon Analytics was primarily based on business intelligence software, which limited the possibilities for further development of the application. “Sooner or later, we would hit a wall in terms of the available data processing capacity or adding new functionality,” explains Bas Wolff, product owner at BigMile.

“We’ve noticed that our customers build up their emissions history step by step. They provide new data every month, and they want to be able to report on that too. They also want to be able to analyse their performance over time. The emissions database of our customers is growing all the time, meaning that our software needs to be able to process a rapidly increasing amount of data. That’s why we decided to completely rebuild BigMile Carbon Analytics using the latest technology, in order to future-proof the platform and facilitate this future growth among our customers,” Wolff says.

Reporting

In addition to building up the emissions database, BigMile Carbon Analytics 3.0 includes significantly improved reporting capabilities. Wolff: “Thanks to the redesigned dashboards, it’s even easier to conduct analysis and visualize patterns. Graphs are more interconnected, so you can immediately see how things impact one another.”

Thanks to the report scheduler, it has also become a lot easier to share information with all stakeholders. “Previously, users only received statistics at the highest level of aggregation and had to generate a customer-level report separately. Now they can generate an individual report about each customer’s CO2 emissions at the touch of a button – up to a hundred at a time. It’s also possible to schedule them in advance and to receive automatic notifications when the reports are ready.”

As an extra bonus, the reports can now feature the company’s own logo. “Users can easily upload their own logo into the application. This means that their logo can be displayed in various places when they export a report for sharing with a logistics provider or customer, for example.”

Legislation

Jan Pronk, Managing Director at BigMile, comments: “The upcoming legislation is pushing companies to start integrating sustainability reporting into their day-to-day logistics operations. BigMile enables reporting to become part of the standard process. Thanks to the technological improvements, we can adapt the application to current legislation and user requirements more simply.”

“Reports are also easier for users to customize, so that they and their stakeholders can receive precisely the information they need in the format that works best for them. This makes our solutions future-proof and flexible enough to keep pace with our customers’ growth. As an added benefit, there will be no more downtime associated with application upgrades. Whereas a new release used to take several hours, it will now only take a few minutes,” states Pronk.

Availability

The beta version of BigMile Carbon Analytics 3.0 is expected to become available in May 2023, with the full version coming out in August 2023. In the case of questions about the new version, BigMile users can contact their representative or send an email to: support@bigmile.eu.
